Gary Rothwell started riding Motorbikes in 1984 at the age of 13. His first motorbike was a Yamaha DT125, which was stuck in first gear! Gary was first discovered by Performance Bikes Magazine in 1992, while riding a Kawasaki Z1300 at the T.T, They featured him in the T.T. issue, and said “Rothwell is a genius on a Motorcycle and will be a star in years to come.”
Gary’s first stunt show was at “The Day of Champions” in Donnington park. He has made several appearances on prime-time television; these include Sky TV, Scottish TV, and ITV. He has appeared on shows such as Record Breakers, Holly Oaks, Ride On ,Top Gear Motor sports, And Guinness World Records. Videos include Berry On Bikes, Swantz World Champions, Performance bikes and Streetfighters Video.
The launch of his own two videos “SHOWTIME” in 1995 and “SHOWTIME 2” in 1999 spotlights the death defying stunts Gary performs, including several live world record breaking stunts. One of the stunts “The Fastest Man on Skis” which involves him slipping off the back of the bike and being pulled along on titanium skis fitted to his boots, at a recorded speed of 150.02 mph.
Gary and his wife Joan travel frequently to the USA to such places as Brainerd Raceway. Daytona Raceway (200), Willow Springs, Laguna seca (wsb) other track appearance’s include Australia G.P. Italy (w.d.w), France, silverstone (touring cars) Scotland (touring cars) and Donnington for the G.P. are to name but a few.
Joan’s first experience on a motorbike with dare devil Gary was at the local airfield in Liverpool. At over 100 mph he performed a wheelie with Joan on board. She loved it so much they have continued to practice and perform together ever since. The airfield is an ideal location for them to practice, with nothing for miles except fields and runways! Their first public performance together was at the Isle of Man T.T. Races in 1995. It was a raging success, and gets better and better every time…. If there is one thing not to be missed, it’s the amazing stunt-antics of Gary and Joan. They are always seeking new ways to thrill and entertain. The current dare devil show includes wheelies and stoppies at speed of over 100mph, demonstrating control, balance and agility, as well as the record breaking stunts
Gary has wowed sensation-seeking crowds across the globe. His terrifying stunts are generally performed at bike shows, where his arena is ideally 150 yards square (although smaller arenas can and have been used) As you can imagine the stakes are high for the death-defying stunt riders; Gary is covered by £2,000,000 public liability insurance.
